RV Camping Tips
If you’ve never been on an RV camping trip before, you may feel a little out of your depth. How different is RV camping from tent camping? What’s the correct etiquette for camping out in an RV park or campground? While RV camping is definitely unique, it’s not too different from a normal camping trip, and there’s no need to panic. However, to ensure you’re prepared, we recommend taking a look at our helpful RV camping tips below.
Choose Your Campsite Carefully
Not all RV campsites are created equally, and it’s important to choose yours carefully before you make plans to hit the road. If you have a larger rig, such as a Class A or C motorhome, or a fifth wheel or toy hauler, you’ll want to double-check that your campsite doesn’t have any narrow roads or small entrances that your RV might not be able to fit through.
You’ll also want to check to see what sort of amenities your campsite may have, as different RVs have different needs. Some spots may not offer any amenities, while others will have everything from electricity, water, and septic connections. Make sure you know what’s available before you leave, and remember to reserve your spot if you can! The better the campsite, the sooner it’s going to fill up.
Take Care of Your Trash
When camping in an RV, remember to always dispose of your trash correctly. If left out, your garbage could attract animals, or simply blow away and end up cluttering up the campsite. If you have trash, be sure to pick it up immediately, and toss it away in a nearby bin. While it may be tempting to burn your refuse at a late-night campfire rather than toss it, we strongly advise against it. Not only is it bad for the environment, but the smell is often extremely noxious and may cause issues with nearby neighbors.
